Diary Forever Friends
Who is lucky enough to have friends forever? I’m not—I have to confess. Maybe I’m the problem, or maybe they are.
My first friends from school completely disappeared. They found new friendships, developed new interests, and despite my efforts to keep them in my life, I eventually lost my patience with compromising—and ultimately, my interest.
I once read a post that said, "I lost my friends when I stopped following their schedules." That is such a big truth.
I can still hear someone saying, "If you were true friends, you would still be together."
To me, that sounds completely utopian (it's a Greek word—look it up if you don't know what it means!).
Even with a lifelong friend, once they got married, their partner clearly didn't like me for various reasons and kept them away from me. How can I compete with that? I mean, how do you navigate the balance between a new family starting and an old friendship ending?
And honestly, they didn't seem to miss me at all.
Stay tuned—there will be a Part II about friendships coming soon, but in the meantime, feel free to share your stories with me in the comments.
