Beach Time Before and Beach Time After Social Media

Summertime and beach days have arrived!

It used to be that you just needed sunscreen, a ball, a beach towel, and you were ready. After that, you just grabbed whatever you wanted—a volleyball, beach rackets, or for those who were more relaxed, a book, a newspaper, or a magazine. You would just sit there reading, chatting, talking, or playing.

Nowadays at the beach, it's cell phones first, everything else second. It is time for a lot of photo shooting! People don't even stay in the sun because they are afraid of their phones overheating, so they look for a nice shady spot just to scroll. Of course, sports are still a part of the beach, but eventually, the selfies take priority before anyone actually serves the volleyball.

And since there are no more wet pages to worry about, tablets and smartphones give us everything to read... so there is no need for expensive buys.

Let me know where you stand! Drop a number in the comments:

1 = I still bring real books, magazines, and beach rackets. No screens allowed!

2 = I bring my tablet for reading, but I try to keep off social media.

3 = I'm looking for the perfect shady spot to scroll and take selfies! No shame!
