Does Social Media Actually Make Us Happier?
To be honest, I don’t have a definitive answer yet, but let’s explore it together.
We spend the vast majority of our free time scrolling through Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok—watching endless videos and searching for content. Even when we aren't scrolling, we’re often still "participating" by carefully selecting a photo to upload. But what drives this? Is it a genuine need to connect, or are we just seeking external validation and attention?
Even major celebrities have admitted how addictive it is to be recognized and accepted by an audience. Let’s be real: who doesn't enjoy being the center of attention every once in a while?
The Worldwide Competition
Sometimes it feels like a relentless race to stay relevant in the lives of your followers. Is it just me, or has social media turned into a global competition? If you don't stay active, you can be replaced in a second by the next ambitious creator.
While having a loyal audience that approves of your life feels great, the cost is high. We are essentially competing against the entire world.
The "Groundhog Day" Effect
This constant competition leads to a strange side effect: repetition. We see the same vacation spots, the same poses, and the same opinions over and over again. It’s like living in the movie Groundhog Day. On TikTok, a trend starts and suddenly you’re watching the exact same video recreated by thousands of different accounts. For a platform with billions of users, true creativity feels surprisingly limited.
So, does this cycle bring us happiness?drop a 'Yes' or 'No' below and tell me why!
